Formula de calculo para descida de aproximação:
(Altitude actual - Altitude pretendida) : vertical speed : 60 min. x velocidade = Milhas para iniciar descida
Ex. para uma aproximação a uma pista que se encontra a uma altitude de 4.000ft quando navegamos a 10.000ft de altitude. Se pretendermos efectuar uma descida com um VS de 1800 e uma velocidade de 300 nós, temos o seguinte cálculo
(10000 - 4000) : 1800 : 60 x 300 = 16nM
Assim ficamos a saber que nestas condições de voo, devemos iniciar a descida a 16nM do ponto de aproximação.
